Istituto del Design of Matera will play a leading role in the D.I.A.R.Y. project – Digital and International Arts through Augmented Reality and Research for Young students
Strengthening Higher Education in Art, Music and Dance (AFAM) is essential to build a training network that stands out for excellence in Italy and gains a prominent role at international level. Istituto del Design of Matera pursues this goal through a series of projects and initiatives involving artistic production and research. All of this is designed to support the expansion of the AFAM network beyond national borders, thus contributing to the promotion and dissemination of Italy’s cultural heritage.
In this regard, Istituto del Design of Matera joined Directorial Decree 124/2023 of the Ministry of University and Research, funded through European funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). It has also launched important collaborations with AFAM institutions, universities and research bodies both in Italy and abroad, with the aim of building an integrated system of knowledge and skills.
The project partnership includes the Accademia di Belle Arti di Lecce (lead partner), the ‘Tito Schipa’ Conservatory, the ‘Duni’ Conservatory of Matera, the legally recognised Accademia di Belle Arti ‘Rosario Gagliardi’ of Syracuse, CNR Nanotec Lecce, the University of Salento and the ‘Domenico Cimarosa’ Conservatory of Music
Thanks to this network, Istituto del Design of Matera develops synergistic actions aimed at fostering the implementation, exchange and circulation of the knowledge and know-how cultivated within each academic institution. This approach gives students the opportunity to engage with different methodologies and perspectives in an international context. The initiative, in addition to strengthening Italian cultural identity, aims to train a new generation of designers capable of representing and promoting Italian culture around the world, making it more accessible and appealing on a global scale.
