NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS

The Istituto del Design promotes forms of collaboration with national and international cultural, artistic and research bodies, as well as with private and public institutions and companies.

The Istituto del Design has signed specific agreements for artistic, scientific and educational collaboration with craft workshops, sofa and furniture companies, professional studios, and printing houses.

INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL OFFERING

IdD is an AFAM institution that offers valid and innovative educational programs in the field of design, welcoming the dreams and talent of young people.

The Istituto del Design organizes academic study programs capable of responding to the new artistic and cultural context, providing a solid university education and a concrete professional outlook. In this process, IdD involves active figures with recognized professional experience, ensuring that its students receive both theoretical teaching and the methodological-operational guidance needed to stay up to date and attentive to the contemporary world. The Institute’s operational vision is expressed above all in the concept of student centrality and in students’ emotional and educational wellbeing. On this basis, a close and continuous collaboration between students and teachers is strengthened, one that also extends beyond teaching activities, combining theory and practice.

IdD encourages the creation of working groups that experiment not only with new working methodologies but also with systemic applications: an approach that allows students to anticipate the trends of the job market they will face after completing their studies.

STIMULATING RESEARCH PROJECTS

IdD has conceived and is carrying out important projects and cultural initiatives in collaboration with private partners, companies, craft workshops and professional studios. On this basis, activities have been implemented to expand research, understood as the set of activities aimed at discovering and applying artistic-scientific knowledge. In particular, IdD focuses its attention on so-called applied research, which consists of identifying and testing the possible practical applications of acquired knowledge — an approach connected to development activities, related to the larger-scale production of technological innovations. IdD has also launched applied research programs aimed at significantly increasing the cognitive effects deriving from the theoretical concepts learned in the classroom.
