IdD – Istituto del Design ensures that students undergoing gender transition can study in a supportive environment that respects individual privacy and dignity.
To achieve this goal, IdD offers an Alias Career (gender identity support program) that allows any student who has begun or intends to begin a gender transition process, or who identifies with a gender different from the one shown on their official documents, to request a provisional, temporary and non-permanent identity — that is, a name different from their legal name that corresponds to the new identity being acquired — for all activities and services related to their academic life.
In line with procedures already adopted in many countries around the world, IdD does not require the mandatory submission of the administrative and medical diagnostic documentation provided for by current regulations in order to activate the Alias Career. The ultimate aim of this approach is to give the fullest expression to each individual’s freedom.
The Alias Career can be requested by anyone who has begun a gender transition process, at any time after enrolment. It is sufficient to send an email to [email protected].
